Our skin is acidic in nature and should be kept neither too oily or dry. When the pH levels are thrown out of balance, when an acne breakout occurs or the skin becomes too oily or dry, it may also become inflamed. In this case, you should restore your skin’s normal pH values in order to prevent further problems.
Apple cider vinegar is a liquid made from fermented apples which has a pH value of 3. The acidity of ACV acts as a toner and will restore your skin’s pH value.
By doing this, ACV will allow your skin to function normally, ward off bacteria and shed dead skin cells as the proper rate so they don’t clog your pores. ACV will also smoothen and soften your skin, while reducing the excess oil as well. Here’s how to make a homemade ACV facial toner:
3 tablespoons of water
1 tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar
Add both ingredients in a plastic bottle and shake it well, then apply the homemade toner on your face with a cotton ball. Leave it to dry, then rinse with lukewarm water and apply your favorite moisturizer. Remember to shake the bottle well before each use, and keep it in a dark and cool place.
ACV is rich in alpha hydroxy acids which can lighten your skin and reduce the appearance of dark spots and stains. The liquid will balance your skin’s pH levels, exfoliate your skin and prevent acne breakouts. Finally, it will also close and tighten your pores, preventing numerous problems.
WARNING: never use ACV directly on your skin. It is an acidic substance that can harm your skin, which is why it needs to be diluted with some water.
